Plant Light House

Materials

  • one empty copy paper (8.5 x 11) box
  • aluminum foil roll, 12 inches wide
  • glue stick or white glue
  • clear tape
  • cutting blade
  • scissors
  • soft plastic container lid or plastic plate
  • 30 watt fluorescent light or 39 watt energy saver fluorescent light
  • electric cord with socket
Build
1. Prior to construction, inspect box and reglue any weakly glued flaps
2. Apply a thin layer of glue to inner surfaces of the box and attach aluminum foil to cover the entire inner surface.
3. Cut 3 vent slots (4 cm x 14 cm) in the top of sides and back, as shown
4. Cut a hole (2.5 cm diameter) in the center of container lid and trim off the rim to make a flat disc with a hole
5. Insert the light fixture through hole from inside the box
6. Place disk over light fixture from the top and attach the plug and socket.
7. Tape aluminum foil curtain to top front edge of box.
8. Strengthen edges and center of curtain with clear tape
